OUR SYMBOLIC LOGO REPRESENTS
The Qalam (meaning the Pen) is at the helm of our logo, epitomizing the spirit of education at Burhani College.
We take inspiration from the first verses of the Holy Quran, revealed by the Almighty to the Prophet MohammedSAW , enjoining the Prophet to ‘READ’, extolling:
“He has taught by the pen; taught man what he knew not.”
In the Fatimid Philosophy, from which the college derives inspiration, the Qalam is the loftiest source of all knowledge and education. The seas of eternal and immortal knowledge flow from it.
The logo, with the word Al-Qalam calligraphed in the shape of a pen, illuminates the path of true knowledge, encouraging seekers to read and write.
Under the verse of the Holy Quran is inscribed a verse dedicated to one of the greatest Fatimid scholars, it reads:
“Al-Qalam writes lines of righteousness, guidance, and light, upon the hearts.”
Two distinct and unique attributes of the pen give it its lofty status:
- The PEN always obeys the hand and writes what the hand directs.
- Whatever the PEN writes, it dedicates it to the hand of the writer.
The first attribute speaks volumes about the uniqueness of the pen, while the second one highlights its humility.
The aim of education is to instill these two characteristics in each learner. They will emulate the teacher, enabling the learning to seep into their hearts, all the while shining in their humility.
